Pastor,

This is one of the BEST analysis of life in the diaspora that I have ever read. Having invested over 15 years there myself, and been victim to the issues you have raised, how I wish this counsel had been given to us those days.

Can you give me permission to upload it on my website, www.akadeducationafrica.com ?

Thank you,

Dr. J. Weche

Subject: [YP_Ke] Life in USA: Who is to blame?

At a given time in our lives,we all decided on our own accord and for various reasons to migrate to USA. Based on what we had heard from different sources, we came with great anticipation that life in the US would be better off than our native lands. Time alone would prove us right or wrong.

Once here, it didn't take us a long time to find out that things were not as easier as we had thought. How so? We found out the following:

1.We went through a culture shock that took some of us a long time to recover
2.Time is money
3.Bills have no sympathy for the lazy ones. Its either you work hard or you won't make it. And so to make ends meet,we found ourselves going for doubles and at times triples.
4.The kind of jobs available were not all what we expected. They were the kind that we would not do in our native lands
5.Every one has got rights. Men found themselves angered , confused, powerless and out of control
6.A lot of freelance advisers and teachers with all kinds of weird ideas and way of looking at things
7.America is a land of opportunity to all those who care to make use of it

In trying to adjust and make meaning in this new land, some things went right for some of us and unfortunately bad for others. Here is what transpired:

1.Some decided to go to school, work so hard and succeeded in acquiring good jobs
2.Some took wrong advantage of various rights, abused them, and thus ended up separating themselves from their families and the community
3.By listening to the freelance advisers, some made wrong decisions that only succeeded in destroying them.
4.Some,consumed by the desire to become rich and develop the native land, spent all their time in working to appoint that they forgot to spend quality time with their spouse and children
5.During their long hours of absence from home, others gave into the temptation of finding new lovers at their places of work
6.Due to frustration and wrong influence, some made a wrong decision to tarry long in bars or anywhere where alcohol would be found.
7.With the misguided notion to get rich quickly, some came up with schemes to steal from wherever money would be found
8.Children too, chose disobedience and rudeness as away of life. School was not a priority to them any more.
9.Due to some deceptions that come from the enemy, some spouses dropped or exchanged their" old fashioned and uneducated spouses" as they went searching for the young,charming,beautiful/hand some ones with a career.
10.Some friends took advantage of their friends and misled them big time. As a matter of fact they played an active role in destroying their friends.

Anything else?

Yes, and perhaps this is the more serious one. What is it? Some people divorced God from their system. They decided not to pray, read the Bible, return their tithes and give
a generous offerings and un fortunately took leave from attending church every week. That way, they isolated themselves from the only one who gives riches, good health, peace of mind and satisfaction. He alone is able to deal with stress, depression, and all kinds of challenges. By choosing to go this deceptive route, many of us became our own enemies;hence the reason we are hurting ourselves and others.

So then,what must we do?

Repent and return to God. Here is what God says:
"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
